Assistant Financial Accountant

IBA Level 4 ($92,817 - $98,420)

Location:  Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane

Finance is responsible for ensuring IBA’s budgets and financial management are in compliance with the Commonwealth budgetary and financial framework. Finance is also responsible for financial management reporting across IBA’s program delivery branches and subsidiaries.

About the Role:

The focus of the role is on the preparation and input of Accounts Payable and the preparation of general ledger reconciliation for both IBA Corporation and Subsidiaries. The person will liaise closely with all IBA Finance staff and relevant program and branch managers. The role also provides assistance in the import of subsidiary financial information into Technology One.

Duties:
Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Review and input supplier invoices into Tech1 in accordance with accounts payable standard operation procedures.
  • Create supplier payment files in accordance with accounts payable standard operating procedures.
  • Create debtor invoices as requested in accordance with accounts receivable standard operating procedures.
  • Review and input credit card statements in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Complete monthly direct cost recharge for Housing Solutions, Business Solutions and Investments Program.
  • Assist with monthly upload of subsidiary financial data into Tech1.
  • Completion and reporting of timely and accurate balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Other duties as required.

Required capabilities
These are essential unless otherwise indicated.

Knowledge and experience

  • Knowledge of the Technology One Financial Management Information System (FMIS)or other similar systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of statutory financial reporting, particularly for PGPA Act entities.
  • Practical experience in management accounting, financial accounting and reporting.

 Skills and attributes

  • Demonstrated ability to construct and develop internal and external budget financial reports and submissions to external agencies and management.
  • Well-developed skills in use of Excel and other relevant software.
  • Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, liaise and negotiate sensitively and effectively with others, including Indigenous communities, individuals and organisations.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Capability

  • Awareness and understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander societies and culture.
  • Ability to liaise and communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff.

Prerequisite requirements

  • An Australian recognised business/commerce degree. 5 years practical experience in a finance function.
