Free online workshop for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who want to know more about how to prepare for home ownership.

With interstate travel restrictions still in place due to COVID-19 we are still unable to deliver face to face workshops but you can take the opportunity to access our online workshops. the Preparing for Home Ownership workshop will be delivered online twice a day every Tuesday for four weeks, starting 1 September.

Workshop content

Purchasing your own home can be one of the biggest financial and emotional commitments will you make.

Starting the home ownership process can be confusing and overwhelming. Where do you start? Who are the parties involved in purchasing a home? Our Preparing for Home Ownership workshop is designed to provide you answers to these questions and more.

We'll provide you with information and tools to help you navigate your way through home ownership process with confidence.

What we’ll cover

In this one hour webinar we'll discuss:

  • Are you financially ready for home ownership? – Deposit requirements, ongoing home ownership expenses
  • Lending options – Explore different lending options (Brokers, banks, internet)
  • Finding a Home – Different things you need to consider when looking for a home that is right for you
  • Settlement Process – How do you go about signing the contract, what role does the real estate play? What role does a conveyancer/solicitor play?
  • Resources tools – Your options if you need assistance and what tools are available.
