IBA Level 5 ($103,843 - $115,131)

About the Role:
This role is a member of IBA's Risk and Assurance team and works closely with the Board, the Executive and staff at all levels to provide high quality risk management and compliance support.
It forms part of the team that is responsible for ensuring that IBA meets its obligations under the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 to establish and maintain a system of risk oversight and management and an appropriate system of internal control that satisfies the high standards of corporate governance expected by the Australian Government. The role reports to IBA's Associate Director, Risk and Assurance.
Duties:
- Oversight of the Risk Team's internal and external reporting and compliance obligations ensuring delivery in a timely manner.
- Management of internal risk, conflicts of interests, gifts, benefits and hospitality and incident registers.
- Development of draft reports and papers for a range of audiences including, IBA’s Executive team, Board and Board Committees.
- Co-ordinate the implementation of both internal and external audit recommendations, including, collection of supporting evidence and closure packs.
- Co-ordinate risk and governance compliance activities.
- Assist with development and implementation of, governance, risk management and risk culture training and workshops.
- Undertake specific research tasks and projects as required.
- Contribute to championing a culture of effective and compliant risk management and governance at IBA.
- Other duties as required.
Required capabilities:
These are essential unless otherwise indicated.
Knowledge and experience:
- Prior risk, governance, compliance or other relevant experience in financial services would be highly regarded.
- Tertiary qualifications in commerce, finance, economics, law or a related discipline would also be highly regarded.
Skills and attributes:
- An ability to communicate sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Well-developed strategic thinking, organisational, planning and prioritisation skills.
- Ability to work effectively independently and as a team member as required and having flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and demands.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including a strong discipline in Microsoft applications.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Capability
- Awareness and understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander societies and culture.
- Ability to liaise and communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff.
Prerequisite requirements:
- Capacity to undertake travel, including overnight absences as required.
