Credit and Securities:
Through the Business Solutions program, IBA helps Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to start, acquire and grow commercially viable businesses by providing pre-business guidance, business finance, business development and business support at all stages of the business life cycle.
The Securities and Settlements team prepare loan and security documentation that accurately reflects borrower and guarantor details, security, and terms and conditions of the loan as approved by the delegate. The team assist with loan settlements, including discharges, as well as liaising with and instructing internal and external legal service providers and other external agents and managing settlements through IBA’s loan systems.
Role:
The Assistant Credit & Settlements Officer reports to the Team Leader, Securities & Settlements and supports the credit and settlements team more broadly. This position will deliver efficient and effective security and settlement service to support IBA Business Solutions team and its clients.
Successful applicant will be provided coaching & development opportunities in relation to the broader functions of the team.
Duties:
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare loan and security documentation that accurately reflects borrower and guarantor details, security, terms and conditions of the loan as approved by the delegate.
- Assist in ensuring all relevant processes to ensure correct execution of documentation is completed within an appropriate timeframe.
- Undertake input and management of data in IBA systems (including Infosys).
- Assist with loan settlements, including discharges, as well as liaising with and instructing internal and external legal service providers and other external agents.
- Assist with the registration of various securities, including mortgages and their legal requirements.
- Assist with general administrative function in relation to securities, settlements and credit.
- Other duties as required.
Required capabilities
These are essential unless otherwise indicated.
Knowledge and experience
- A knowledge of IBA’s and Business Solutions’ lending policies, products and procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft suit of products, such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Awareness of the economic development aspirations of, and commitment to working ethically with and in the interests of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Some knowledge of commercial lending, securities & registrations.
Skills and attributes
- Strong organisational, planning and prioritisation skills. A very high level of attention to detail and diligence, and commitment to meet deadlines.
- Ability to negotiate confidently and communicate in simple language (written and verbal) and with an ability to understand and adapt to different audiences.
- Results focused and effective as a team member and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Able to deliver services within the agreed timeframes set by the Team Leader Securities and Settlements, and within specified timelines/EBP’s or otherwise deemed to be in a timely manner.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Capability
- Awareness and understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander societies and culture.
- Ability to liaise and communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff.
