Manager, Digital Communications & Content

Salary:  IBA Level 6 ($130,538 - $144,922)

Location:  Sydney or Brisbane
Employment Type:  Non-ongoing - 9 months

The Strategic Communications team reports to the Executive Director, People & External Relations and is responsible for promoting the brand and developing strategic communications to assist managers and staff in achieving their business outcomes. The team is responsible for internal and external communications, as well as managing IBA’s external facing digital platforms.

Role:

The Manager, Digital Communications & Content, is responsible for creating and driving the digital and website strategy and delivering digital and other marketing initiatives. This includes managing and driving the social media strategy and online assets, which align with IBA’s business priorities, the IBA Corporate Plan and Strategy Towards 2028, and the IBA communication strategy.

They provide strategic advice regarding digital developments, campaigns and strategy to stakeholders across IBA including senior leadership teams. They have proven results in developing and leading sound communications campaigns across the business.

This role is responsible for leading and supervising team members within the digital communications area.

Duties:

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Drive the content strategy for various digital communication platforms that promote and support IBA’s vision and business priorities.
  • Lead IBA’s website and digital strategy and manage associated budget.
  • Drive and oversee social media campaigns in line with IBA’s business priorities and IBA’s communication strategies.
  • Responsible for an online presence that anticipates and is responsive to the needs and preferences of IBA’s broad client base and encourages the establishment of a community around its programs and services.
  • Oversee the measurement and reporting of performance of all digital marketing campaigns in order to drive strategy and set goals.
  • Manage the Social Media Coordinator and supervise their role in coordination of IBA's social media channels and other associated tasks.
  • Manage external and internal stakeholder relationships related to digital campaigns including contractors and agencies.
  • Provide strategic advice to IBA’s program areas on digital-related strategies and developments required for business initiatives.
  • Create integrated communication campaigns that address objectives of the business.
  • Manage website developments and drive projects that support IBA’s program areas.
  • Manage ongoing strategic review of IBA website which ensures useability in line with industry standards, responsiveness to community needs, alignment with IPS requirements and factual accuracy.
  • Manage other strategic communications projects as required.
  • Other duties as required.

Required capabilities

These are essential unless otherwise indicated.

Knowledge and experience

  • Proven experience in the end-to-end creation and management of strategic communications initiatives.
  • Knowledge and experience of digital strategy including website, social media and other digital assets.
  • Experience and knowledge of social media channels, their integration with a wider communication strategy and understanding of how paid and organic digital promotions work.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in a communications role at mid/project manager level.
  • Experience in supervising team members.
  • Ability to problem-solve and confidently provide strategic advice.
  • Technical knowledge of and experience using content management platforms for websites ideally WordPress.
  • University or equivalent education in public relations, communications, or journalism related fields will be highly regarded.
  • Commitment to working ethically with and in the interests of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to contribute to and manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to communicate facts and figures to a broad audience in plain English.
  • Self-motivated - ability to work unsupervised.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, liaise and negotiate sensitively and effectively with others, including with Indigenous communities and individuals.

  • Awareness and understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander societies and culture.
  • Ability to liaise and communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff.


Prerequisite requirements

Willingness and ability to travel, including overnight absences as required.
