Role:
The Manager, Information Management operates under broad direction and is responsible for leading the strategic development, implementation, and governance of IBA’s Information Asset Management Framework. This role undertakes highly complex and sensitive work, exercising a high degree of independence and sound judgment to ensure the secure, compliant, and effective management of information assets across the agency.
As a senior leader, the Manager, Information Management provides authoritative advice on information governance, leads enterprise-wide initiatives, and manages key stakeholder relationships within and outside IBA. They will champion and lead our transition to a Manage in Place asset management strategy. The role also oversees the Enterprise Document and Records Management System (EDRMS) and data governance technology, ensuring it supports strategic, operational, and legislative requirements.
Duties:
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Lead the strategic direction and continuous improvement of IBA’s Information Asset Management Framework, ensuring alignment with national standards and legislative obligations.
- Provide high-level policy advice and authoritative guidance to senior executives, board and business units on information governance and compliance.
- Exercise sound judgment in managing complex and sensitive information management issues, including risk mitigation and regulatory compliance.
- Oversee and support with the administration and strategic use of the EDRMS, and data governance technology ensuring it supports enterprise-wide information governance objectives.
- Coordinate and deliver complex projects and initiatives that have strategic, political, or operational significance to IBA.
- Represent IBA in high-level forums and negotiations with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies and regulatory bodies.
- Develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships to influence and drive best practices in information management across the agency.
- Support the CITO, with chair governance forums and lead the Information Asset Management community of practice to promote awareness and compliance.
- Monitor and report on compliance with information management policies, including the development of quality metrics and board-level reporting.
- Deliver on Information Asset Management outcomes, actioning service requests, managing incidents, access management and supporting with Freedom of Information Act (FOI) requests.
- Act as the Project Owner for the Information Asset programs, delivering on a strategy to Manage in Place.
- Act as the Business and Contract owner for all contracts and software purchased in relation to Information Asset Management.

Required capabilities (Skills, Experience and Qualifications)
These are essential unless otherwise indicated.
Knowledge and experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field such as Business, Commerce or Law.
- 5+ years Extensive skills and experience in the delivery of Information Asset Management services across records, data and all information asset types.
- Experience with migrating an agency to a manage in place information asset management strategy in an Office 365 environment.
- Excellent knowledge of Information Asset Management principles including the Archives Act, ISO AS 15489 and the policy and procedures endorsed by the National Archives of Australia.
- Demonstrated ability to implement and manage an EDRMS and produce outcomes that improve record keeping practices in a culturally and geographically diverse organisation.
- Demonstrated contract management and coordination skills.
- Project management experience with the ability to lead complex projects.

- Well-developed oral and written communication skills including supportive interaction with all IBA Staff and stakeholders
Change Management
- Experience leading transformational change for IT initiatives driving operational efficiencies.
- Understand the ITIL change management process to control risk and minimise disruption to associated IT services and business operations.
- Experience in PROSCI change management model, developing change, communication and training plans.
Cultural Capability
- an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
- an ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
