Manager, Transactions Team

IBA Level 5 ($103,843 - $115,131)

Location:  Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra or Brisbane

Finance is responsible for ensuring IBA’s budgets and financial management are in compliance with the Commonwealth budgetary and financial framework. Finance is also responsible for financial management reporting across IBA’s program delivery branches and subsidiaries.

About the Role:
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Manager, Transactions Team, provides supervision, technical advice and support for transactional services, including Accounts Payable, Receivable, bank processing.

This is a critical role for IBA to ensure the accurate and timely payment of suppliers within payment terms, processing bank transactions and issuing of IBA invoices.

This position is critical in ensuring the safeguard of IBA bank accounts and related balances.

The Manager, Transactions requires strong attention to detail and will ensure the Transaction team members are supported in the delivery of their roles.

Duties:
Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead, mentor, and support the Transactional Team to ensure high performance and professional growth.
  • Oversee daily transactional activities including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, bank reconciliations, and pay runs.
  • Maintain the integrity of financial data by managing vendors and customer records.
  • Manage incoming transactional service requests and delegate appropriately to ensure prompt resolution.
  • Monitor and escalate transaction-related issues to ensure compliance and service continuity.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations, including reporting on aged payables/receivables.
  • Lead implementation of e-invoicing and procurement systems, including documentation and training.
  • Prepare and deliver accurate compliance reports and respond to ad hoc reporting requests.
  • Act as the primary liaison for internal departments and external partners regarding transactional services.
  • Other duties as required.

Required Capabilities:
These are essential unless otherwise indicated.

Knowledge and experience

  • Knowledge of the Technology One Financial Management Information System (FMIS) or other similar systems, including basic system administration.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities with special reference to financial information regarding Accounts Payable and Receivable.
  • Practical knowledge in general accounting processes, including posting of accrual journals and reconciliation of ledger accounts.

  • Well-developed oral and written communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to organise, prioritise, and monitor workflows, maintain standards and deliver on objectives within deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, liaise and negotiate sensitively and effectively with others, including Indigenous communities, individuals and organisations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work remotely, autonomously, and rapidly adapt to technological and organisational change.
  • Solid work ethics, team focused, sharing knowledge, being constructive and flexible.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Capability

  • Awareness and understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander societies and culture.
  • Ability to liaise and communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff.

Preference will be given to candidates who have the following:

  • Proven management and leadership capabilities with a small team.
  • Experience in the management of an Account Payable team; and
  • An Australian recognised qualification in Accounts Payable.
