Business Intelligence Analyst (Affirmative Measures )

The Strategy and Impact team leads the development, implementation and performance monitoring of IBA’s progress against the organisation’s strategic and corporate plan, research and evaluation including impact measurement, strategic policy and thought leadership including initiatives targeting continuous improvement and transformation.

Role:

The role applies experience in data analysis for evaluating and informing our organisations performance in environmental, social and governance strategies as well as ensuring IBA is delivering on its strategic plan and corporate performance measures.

The role involves extraction of internal and external collation of data, with evidence-based results, impact reporting and contributing to excellence in research at IBA and will have knowledge of data manipulation and visualisation programs such as Power BI, and/or Excel, and or a willingness to learn new software as needs require. The position requires the ability to build and maintain relationships both internally and externally to assist with the delivery of projects.

The role reports to the Manager, Organisational Performance & Intelligence.

Duties:

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Extract, analyse and interpret internal and external data using statistical techniques to identify trends and insights, and prepare comprehensive reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct assessments of ESG practices within the organisation and collaborate with teams to integrate ESG considerations into business strategy and operations.
  • Develop and present visualisations, dashboards and reports to effectively communicate findings to diverse audiences.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders through clear communication, negotiation and issue resolution.
  • Support the preparation of corporate documents, such as such as Corporate Plan and Annual Report, by contributing to performance monitoring and reporting.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to conduct, evaluations, research and impact analysis aligned with IBA’s strategic goals and performance frameworks.
  • Assist in developing techniques to process large data sets, address quantitative problems, optimise the Data Warehouse facility, and contribute to the design of automated systems for business intelligence.
  • Challenge assumptions, ask critical questions and utilise evidence-based insights to inform policy and program design, supporting senior managers and executives.
  • Other duties as required.

Required capabilities
These are essential unless otherwise indicated.

Knowledge and experience

  • At least 5 years’ experience in data management, reporting, strategic and corporate performance reporting, data analysis and process improvements.
  • Have demonstrated success in:
    • Delivering strategic insights and points of view on performance
    • Presenting complex ideas in a compelling way
    • Collaborating with many stakeholders to deliver valuable analytical insights to IBA stakeholders and partners.
  • Experience in identifying, collecting, analysing and disseminating complex data using a range of software applications to inform business effort and decision making.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous Affairs in Australia.
  • Display Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural capability including a demonstrated awareness and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies.
  • Relevant qualifications or experience in Data Analytics, Information Technology and Systems, Business and Commerce, Environmental Social and Governance, Social Science and Research or in the process of obtaining such qualifications.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in statistical and economical software, including Power BI and Excel to support data analysis visualization.
  • Exhibits strong critical thinking skills, with a willingness to explore a variety of options and identify effective solutions to complex problems.
  • Builds and maintains effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Works effectively within multidisciplinary teams, contributing to collective goals and offering guidance when needed.
