procurement workshop

Free workshop to help Indigenous businesses navigate the process of successfully responding to procurement opportunities.

About the workshop

Business opportunities continue to increase for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. As part of its Indigenous Procurement Policy (IPP), the Australian Government has committed to awarding a percentage of new domestic contracts to Indigenous suppliers. Since 2015, IPP has generated over $3.5 billion in contracting opportunities for more than 2000 Indigenous businesses.

State governments have also developed their own state based Indigenous procurement policies and corporations are continuing to work with Indigenous suppliers in meeting their corporate responsibilities.

While winning government and corporate contracts can help grow your business, the process of applying for these opportunities can often be complex and daunting for the unprepared.

IBA runs workshops for Indigenous business owners who would like to know how they can prepare and best position their businesses in winning contracts.

At the end of the workshop you should be able to:

  • Define procurement and understand the procurement cycle
  • Understand the IPP and the ways in which government departments buy goods and services
  • Identify opportunities for positioning your business for procurement
  • Assess the tender assessment criteria and understand how to demonstrate your business capabilities to meet requirements
  • Understand how to position and respond to opportunities during COVID
